Bayonne occupies a peninsula in southern Hudson County between Newark Bay, the Kill Van Kull, and Upper New York Bay. Broadway serves as the city’s principal commercial corridor, running through residential neighborhoods and local business districts. The Bayonne Bridge connects the city with Staten Island, while Route 440 provides access to Jersey City, port facilities, and the regional highway network. Hudson-Bergen Light Rail stations link Bayonne with other waterfront communities and transportation hubs. The former Military Ocean Terminal has been redeveloped for housing, maritime uses, cruise activity, and other projects, adding a new waterfront district to the city. Bayonne is also known for its parks, views of New York Harbor, established rowhouse neighborhoods, industrial history, and close relationship with shipping and transportation along the surrounding waterways.
