Warren County lies along New Jersey’s western border, separated from Pennsylvania by the Delaware River. Belvidere is the county seat, while Phillipsburg is its largest urban and commercial center. The county’s landscape includes the Kittatinny Ridge, the Musconetcong Valley, agricultural areas, wooded hills, small boroughs, and historic villages. Interstate 78 and Routes 22, 31, 46, and 57 connect local communities with the Lehigh Valley, central New Jersey, and the northern part of the state. Warren County is known for scenic river towns, preserved farmland, hiking and recreation areas, historic transportation routes, and communities shaped by agriculture and earlier industrial activity. Development is concentrated around Phillipsburg, Hackettstown, Washington, and several highway corridors, while much of the county retains a lower-density rural character with open land, mountain views, and small municipal centers.
