Englewood is a city in eastern Bergen County with a traditional downtown, established residential neighborhoods, major healthcare facilities, schools, cultural institutions, and parks. Palisade Avenue forms the center of the business district, with shops, restaurants, offices, and community destinations extending through the downtown area. Route 4 runs along the southern edge and connects Englewood with the George Washington Bridge, Hackensack, and the regional highway network. Englewood Health is one of the city’s largest institutions, while Flat Rock Brook Nature Center preserves woodland, wetlands, and trails on the eastern side. The city includes a wide range of housing, from apartment buildings near downtown to larger homes in lower-density neighborhoods. Englewood borders Tenafly, Englewood Cliffs, Leonia, Teaneck, Bergenfield, and several smaller Bergen County communities. Mackay Park and neighborhood recreation spaces add another layer to the city’s local landscape.
