River Edge is a borough in central Bergen County along the Hackensack River, bordered by New Milford, Oradell, Paramus, Teaneck, and Hackensack. Kinderkamack Road is the main commercial and transportation corridor, while Route 4 and other regional highways are nearby. The River Edge NJ Transit station on the Pascack Valley Line provides service toward Secaucus, Hoboken, and New York connections. The borough is primarily residential, with established neighborhoods, schools, parks, houses of worship, local shops, and professional offices. Historic New Bridge Landing, associated with important events during the American Revolution, lies along the river near the southern end of the community. River Edge developed as a railroad suburb and retains a traditional center near the station. Its riverfront history, rail access, and central location among Bergen County's larger employment and shopping areas give it a distinctive and well-connected suburban identity.
