Raritan Township surrounds the borough of Flemington in central Hunterdon County and serves as one of the county’s principal residential and commercial centers. Routes 202 and 31 meet in the township, creating a regional corridor for shopping, offices, healthcare facilities, and travel between Somerset County, Mercer County, and the Delaware River region. Beyond those developed areas, Raritan Township retains farms, wooded hills, historic roads, and small localities such as Copper Hill, Flemington Junction, and Voorhees Corner. Residential development ranges from older rural homes to established subdivisions and newer communities. Parks, trails, schools, and municipal facilities are distributed across the township’s broad land area. Raritan Township borders Flemington, Readington Township, Franklin Township, Delaware Township, East Amwell Township, and other Hunterdon County municipalities. Its location and road network have made it an important service and employment center while the surrounding landscape continues to reflect the agricultural and rural heritage of central Hunterdon County.
