Whitehouse Station is a census-designated place and the principal village center of Readington Township in Hunterdon County. It developed around the railroad and remains the township's best-known transportation and commercial hub. The NJ Transit station provides Raritan Valley Line service toward Somerville, Newark, and New York connections. U.S. Route 22, Route 523, nearby Interstate 78, and local roads link the community with Bridgewater, Flemington, Clinton, and surrounding villages. Whitehouse Station includes a traditional center, residential neighborhoods, offices, shopping areas, schools, and larger employment properties along the highway corridors. The community is not a separate municipality and shares government, public facilities, and schools with the rest of Readington Township. Its rail station, postal identity, and concentration of businesses make it more active than the township's smaller rural settlements, while nearby farms and open land preserve a strong Hunterdon County setting.
