Ledgewood is one of the six principal communities within Roxbury Township in western Morris County. It sits near the meeting of Routes 10 and 46, a location that has supported shopping, offices, restaurants, and regional travel. The village also has deep ties to the Morris Canal, with historic structures and remnants reflecting its nineteenth-century role in transportation and commerce. Ledgewood’s older center contains homes and buildings from several periods, while larger retail and commercial properties developed along the modern highway corridors. Residential neighborhoods extend into the surrounding hills and connect with Succasunna, Kenvil, and other sections of Roxbury. Interstate 80 is accessible nearby, providing travel toward Dover, Parsippany, and western New Jersey. Ledgewood is not separately incorporated and shares township schools, parks, municipal facilities, and public services. Its blend of historic village character and major commercial corridors makes it one of Roxbury’s most recognizable communities.
