Bridgewater Township is a major suburban and commercial center in central Somerset County. Interstates 287 and 78, along with Routes 22, 28, 202, and 206, make it one of the county’s most connected municipalities. The township includes corporate campuses, shopping districts, healthcare facilities, hotels, residential neighborhoods, parks, and areas of light industry. Bridgewater Commons and the Route 22 corridor serve as prominent regional destinations, while older settlement areas remain near the Raritan River and surrounding local roads. Duke Island Park and portions of the county greenway system provide recreation along the river. Bridgewater borders Somerville, Raritan, Bound Brook, Branchburg, Hillsborough, and several other Somerset County communities. Its development pattern ranges from busy highway corridors to established suburban neighborhoods and more open sections near the township’s western and southern edges.
