Clark is a suburban township in southern Union County, positioned between Rahway, Westfield, Scotch Plains, Edison, and Woodbridge. The Garden State Parkway passes through the municipality at Exit 135, while Central Avenue, Raritan Road, and nearby Route 27 provide local and regional access. Clark contains established residential neighborhoods, schools, parks, shopping centers, professional offices, and community facilities. The Rahway River and several smaller waterways shape portions of the township's landscape, and Oak Ridge Park provides a major recreational area along the border with Edison. Clark developed from earlier agricultural communities into a largely residential suburb during the twentieth century, with commercial growth concentrated along its main roads. Its central location offers convenient travel toward Newark, New York City, the Raritan Valley, and the Jersey Shore. The township's mix of quiet neighborhoods and busy transportation corridors gives it a distinct role within the southern part of Union County.
