Linden is an eastern Union County city with a mix of residential neighborhoods, industrial districts, retail corridors, and transportation infrastructure. Routes 1 and 9 run through the city, and the New Jersey Turnpike, Route 27, and the Garden State Parkway are nearby. NJ Transit’s Northeast Corridor provides rail service from Linden Station to Newark, New York, and points south. The city’s eastern side contains large industrial and logistics properties near the Arthur Kill and the borders of Carteret and Staten Island, while central and western sections are more residential. Aviation history is represented by Linden Airport, which occupies a former military and manufacturing site. Linden also includes neighborhood shopping districts, schools, parks, and multifamily housing. Its location places it close to Newark Liberty International Airport, Port Newark-Elizabeth, Rahway, Elizabeth, and other major employment centers.
